Energy Efficient: LEDs save between 40% and 90% of the energy consumption of fluorescent tubes, compact fluorescents (CFL), incandescent bulbs, and halogens
Long life: LEDs last up to 50,000 hours, which is 5-20 times longer than CFL and incandescent bulbs. 50,000 hours means that if an LED lamp is on for 24hrs/day it will last 6 years and 12 years if on for 12hrs/day.
Environmentally safe: LEDs contain no toxic materials and emit no harmful UV rays. All metal halide and fluorescent lamps including CFLs, contain mercury (considered a toxic waste everywhere in the world).
Low heat radiation: LEDs do not radiate heat in the living/office space. This can help lower AC energy consumption since the lights do not contribute to “heating” the interior of rooms. A 100W incandescent bulb will radiate approximately 95 Watts of heat into the room it is lighting.
Flicker free and instant turn-on: LEDs are flicker free and turn on instantly. All fluorescent bulbs flicker during start up. In addition metal halides and some CFLs take time to reach full intensity (sometimes as long as 5 minutes)
Unaffected by frequent on/off: LEDs are not affected by frequent on/off (as is the case with occupancy sensors). Frequent switching significantly reduces the lifetime of fluorescent and incandescent lamps.
